List of clichés Australians hate the most

Melbourne, Jan 31 : A new research has come up with a list of clichés that Australians hate the most. Social researcher Mark McCrindle surveyed 1300 Australians to come up with the list. Respondents reported that the most irritating phrases uttered Down Under include “at the end of the day”, “let’s do lunch”, “it’s not rocket science” and “24/7″.

Government not to promote tainted judges: Moily

Agencies New Delhi, Jan 31 – The government is contemplating a law to ensure that a judge facing even slightest suspicion of corruption, judicial misconduct or impropriety ends up forfeiting chances of elevation to the higher courts, Law minister M. Veerappa Moily said Sunday. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a seminar on need to strengthen laws to fight cyber crime, Moily said the government is all set to introduce bills to ensure judges’ accountability and 33 percent reservation for women in parliament and state legislatures.

Melbourne, January 31 : Teachers at a primary school in Tasmania, Australia are worried over students talking about having oral sex. Roz Madsen from the Australian Education Union said that the teachers are increasingly overhearing kids in grades as low as 4 and 5 boast about having oral sex, using explicit language. Madsen added that teachers “felt helpless” at how to deal with the problem, The Mercury reported.

Kazakhstan sets 20-nation entry target by 2020

Astana, Jan.31 : Kazakhstan has set itself an ambitious goal of making its presence as a business and investment powerhouse in at least 20 countries by the year 2020. Addressing the nation this week, President Nursulatan Nazarbayev said the forthcoming decade should be seen as a period of “new economic growth” for Kazakh society, and urged the people of his country to strain every sinew in taking advantage of emerging opportunities. “Kazakhstan must enter the top 20 countries with the most favorable business climate by 2020,” Nazarbayev said, adding this was necessary to ensure stable development of the country’s economy.

"Multimedia" children spend 7 hours a day glued to electronic gadgets

London, Jan 31 : A new research has found that children are spending nearly seven hours daily with their smartphones, iPods, TVs and video games. The research, carried out by the Kaiser Family Foundation in the US, also discovered that youngsters aged between eight and 18 are always using some electronic device when they are not in school. Some use more than one device at a time and consume over 10 hours of electronic content a day.
