Agencies Bangalore, Jan 31 – Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari Sunday blamed the ‘wrong economic policies’ of the UPA government for the skyrocketing prices and double-digit food inflation. ‘Economist Prime Minister Manmohan Singh says GDP to grow double-digit soon but food inflation is growing at high double-digit (17 percent to 20 percent),’ Gadkari told reporters here. With this, octogenarian Brahmi Devi has come a step closer to get back her husband’s posthumously-awarded bravery medal, stolen from her house seven years ago. Naik Kirpa Ram of the 8th Battalion, 13th Frontier Force Rifles, Indian Army, was awarded the George Cross medal posthumously in 1946.

Indian Navy to induct Mig-29K fighter jets

Ritu Sharma New Delhi, Jan 31 – The Indian Navy will induct on Feb 19 the first four Russian-made Mig-29K combat jets for deployment on the aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov. ‘The aircraft will be formally inducted Feb 19,’ a senior Indian Navy official told IANS. The fighters are operating offshore Goa in the absence of aircraft carrier Gorshkov, which is to be commissioned as INS Vikramaditya.
