‘James Bond’ fridge repair firm compelled to change name in UK

London, February 6 : A fridge repair company in the UK has been compelled to rephrase its “James Bond” styled name after being threatened with legal action from the company behind the popular franchise.

Cinema giant MGM accused the company 007 Refrigeration for infringing copyright after the Northampton based firm used the phrase “licence to chill” as part of its branding.

“We have been accused of ‘passing off’ the James Bond films, which suggests we are going out making spy movies and claiming to be James Bond. Clearly, we are not,” the Telegraph quoted director Mick Purcell as saying.

“Quantum Of Solace took in more than 15 million pounds on its first day. It would be a pretty extraordinary day doing fridge repairs and air conditioning if we managed that,” Purcell added.

The company is now in the process of changing the branding. (ANI)
