SAIL official shot at in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Feb 28 – A senior Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) official was shot at by an unidentified men in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad city early Sunday, police said. According to police, three men barged into chief general manager J.K. Bhaumik’s home, assaulted him, and then shot at him.

Sovereignty on mind, Nagas optimistic about talks

PF returns at 8.5 percent for sixth year in row

New Delhi, Feb 28 – Over 4.7 crore Provident Fund (PF) beneficiaries are expected to get a return of 8.5 percent for the next fiscal on their PF deposits. It is similar to the past five year’s rate, an official said Sunday. The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) had offered 12 percent as a rate of return between 1989 and 2000.

Dera Ismail Khan sectarian violence toll rises to six

Peshawar, Feb.28 : The death toll in sectarian violence in Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province’ (NWFP) Dera Ismail Khan region has reached six as four more people succumbed to their injuries in hospital on Sunday. Severe clashes between two sects had erupted after gunshots were fired at a holy procession marking the birth of the Holy Prophet on Saturday. One person was killed in the firing while dozen others were received in violence that followed the gun attack.
