New Delhi, March 31 – With Bharat stage IV norms for cleaner fuel coming into force in 13 cities April 1, the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), an NGO, Wednesday urged the government to not succumb to pressure from the automobile industry to defer clean fuel norms in the remaining parts of the country. Starting Thursday, 13 cities in India will have Bharat stage IV norms for fuel and vehicles. Bharat stage III norms will come into force in the rest of the country.

Sydney, March 31 – Australia Wednesday joined Nigeria in offering to host the Commonwealth Games in 2018 with Queensland’s Gold Coast the chosen venue. ‘We are very excited about putting forward this bid to our fellow Commonwealth Games Associations from 70 Commonwealth nations,’ Australian Commonwealth Games Association president Sam Coffa said in a statement. Islamabad, March 31 – The Swiss authorities have been approached to reopen a money laundering case against Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari involving $60 million, the Supreme Court was informed Wednesday. National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman Naveed Ahsan told the court it had set in motion the process for reopening the case and had written to Swiss officials on this, Geo News reported. Zardari’s is among the 158 cases reopened after the Supreme Court struck down in December last an amnesty against graft which then president Pervez Musharraf had promulgated in October 2007.
