In an advertisement in leading dailies, Kolkata Police said: ‘Dial 100 or 1090 to inform police about any unclaimed bag, vehicle, two-wheeler or bicycle that you suspect might contain explosives.’ ‘Keep local police station informed about the new tenants or call Lalbazar control room.’ In an SMS alert, police said: ‘Do not touch any unidentified object. Inform anything suspicious on 100/1090.

Chicago, April 30 – A 57-year-old Indian man has been charged with criminal sexual abuse of a 20-year-old Indian woman who considered him a father figure and trusted him because of her relationship with one of his children. Lucknow, April 30 – In a shocking development, two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers have been arrested in Uttar Pradesh along with a retired colleague and a policeman on charges of smuggling weapons and explosives, it was announced Friday, The Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police said that besides the CRPF men, a retired sub-inspector of CRPF and a constable in the police academy were taken into custody. Additional Director General (Law and Order) Brij Lal told reporters here: ‘We are yet to ascertain to whom they used to supply the explosives.’ Lal said it was not clear whether they used to pass on police arms to Maoist guerrillas who have stepped up their activity all across central as well as eastern India. The CRPF is India’s biggest paramilitary force.

New Delhi, April 30 – Commerce Minister Anand Sharma Friday said the first phase of the over $100 billion Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) will be completed by 2018. The DMIC, running through six states — Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra — is being developed in collaboration with the Japanese government as a global manufacturing and trading hub. ‘We expect industrial output to triple and exports to grow four times on its completion,’ he said.

Beijing, April 30 – China Friday banned its citizens from buying ‘more than one secondary home’ in an effort to curb soaring property prices. The government also ordered the implementation of policies that would ban mortgages for purchasing a third or more home, Xinhua reported. The government had in April raised the down-payment requirement on second-home mortgages to 50 percent, up from the earlier 40 percent, and reiterated that buyers must pay an extra 10 percent on interest rates for these homes.

Various sea turtle biologists, conservationists, academic researchers, students and activists across South Asia participated in the Symposium to discuss conservation and enetics of the turtles and also to share their knowledge.
