London, Sep 1 – Two sisters in Britain have delivered baby boys on the same day at the same hospital. The odds of their giving birth in the same hospital on the same day were 125,000 to one, according to bookmakers. The sisters Catherine Morris and Dawn Potts amazed midwives at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire with the timing of the births, both within seven hours of each other, reports the Daily Mail.

Man kills six because of pact with ‘Saint Death’

Buenos Aires, Sep 1 (IANS/EFE) A 22-year-old Argentine man said he killed six people because he made a pact with ‘Saint Death’ in exchange for ‘protection and prosperity’, police said. Witnesses said the unidentified suspect became a serial killer to keep the promise he made to a popular pagan saint also known as ‘San La Muerte’, who is venerated in jails and among criminal gangs. The man is accused of having slain six men this year over a period of four months.

Male sex slave ring busted in Spain

Madrid, Sep 1 (IANS/EFE) Police in Spain have busted a ring engaged in sexually exploiting men recruited from Brazil and forced to work round the clock under death threats. A total of 64 men and a few transvestites were brought to Spain from Brazil’s Maranhao state. Some of the men, aged 22 to 29, knew they were coming as prostitutes, while the rest had no idea what was in store for them.

Honda, Suzuki score in latest European crash test

Brussels, Sep 1 – The new Honda CR-Z, Citroen C4, Hyundai ix35 and Suzuki Swift scored top marks in the latest EuroNCAP crash test with the testers for the first time crashing a car fitted with hybrid technology. The Honda CR-Z hybrid achieved 93 percent of the possible points in the segment interior protection, according to the report. The head of ‘The Nativity’ marble piece made by Pietro Bernini, the father of Italian sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini, will be reunited Sep 4 with the rest of the sculpture, the Italian culture ministry said. The head was tracked down by an art historian in a private home.

230-year-old champagne found off Finnish coast

Moscow, Sep 1 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Bottles of world’s oldest champagne, believed to have been made in 1780s, have been found in a shipwreck in the Baltic Sea off Finland’s Aland archipelago. ‘Approximately 70 bottles of exclusive champagne will be lifted from a 200-year-old shipwreck near (the island of) Foglo in the south of the Aland archipelago. The well-preserved bottles, which lie on the seabed at the depth of about 50 meters, are now being lifted to surface,’ Aland authorities said in a statement.

Libya releases 37 militant Islamists

Tripoli, Sep 1 – An ex-Guantanamo detainee and 36 other militant Islamists were released from prison in Libya, according to a charity organisation Tuesday. The release was announced in the capital by the charity foundation of Seif al-Islam al-Gaddafi, one of the sons of Libyan leader Muammer Gaddafi. The foundation said the prisoners had corrected their ways through dialogue, and had all sworn off violence.
