Technopark TBI to get seed funding from union ministry

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 31 – Technopark’s Technology Business Incubation (T-TBI) Monday signed an agreement with the technology development board of the union ministry of science and technology for a Rs.1 crore seed funding assistance. This is the first time the board has selected T-TBI for the assistance, an official said. The funding is for a period of three years.

Warm day in Delhi, mercury to rise further

New Delhi, Jan 31 – It was a warm day in the capital Monday as the early morning chill and fog cover gave way to a bright sun. The weather office has predicted warmer days for the rest of the week. ‘The maximum temperature was recorded at 22.1 degrees Celsius and the minimum settled at 8.1 degrees, both normal for this time of the season,’ an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Pakistan has 100 n-weapons; edges ahead of India: Report

Washington, Jan 31 – Edging ahead of India, Pakistan has doubled its nuclear arsenal over the last several years and now has more than 100 deployed weapons, according to the Washington Post. The Pakistanis have significantly accelerated production of uranium and plutonium for bombs and developed new weapons to deliver them, the influential US daily reported Monday citing estimates by non-government analysts. While Pakistan has no declared nuclear doctrine, it sees its arsenal as a deterrent to an attack by the Indian forces that are heavily deployed near its border, the daily noted.

Kerala government told to take over Padmanabhaswamy temple

Kochi, Jan 31 – The Kerala High Court Monday asked the state government to take over control of the 16th century Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple in the heart of the capital city. The temple, at present, is maintained by the erstwhile royal family of Travancore. Israel rearrests Hamas lawmaker in West Bank

Ramallah, Jan 31 – Israeli soldiers arrested Hamas lawmaker Muhammad Natsheh early Monday at his home in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, Hamas officials said. They said the soldiers searched Natsheh’s home before taking him away. Natsheh is the sixth Hamas lawmaker to be rearrested by Israel since December.
