Police file complaint in AIIMS child abuse case

New Delhi, Jan 31 – The Delhi Police Monday registered a complaint accusing a junior resident doctor at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences of molesting an eight-year-old boy who had come to the hospital for treatment, an official said. ‘We have only registered a complaint against the doctor and started investigations,’ a police official said, clarifying that the first information report has not yet been filed. States told to remove encroachment from village public land

New Delhi, Jan 31 – The Supreme Court has described as illegal all orders which have facilitated grabbing of common village lands and directed state governments to prepare plans to evict illegal occupants from these plots. ‘The time has now come to review all these orders by which the common village land has been grabbed by such fraudulent practices,’ said the apex court bench of Justice Markandey Katju and Justice Gyan Sudha Misra. The order given Friday directed all state governments and the union territories to prepare schemes for eviction of illegal occupants of Gram Sabha (common village) land.

Official killed in militant ambush in Tripura

Agartala, Jan 31 – A central government official from Andhra Pradesh was killed and his driver critically injured when separatist tribal guerrillas fired at their car from across the India-Bangladesh border in northern Tripura Monday, police said. ‘National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) official G.N. Mani, 51, was gunned down and his car driver was injured when outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) militants fired on them at Chayapara village on the border,’ Tripura Police spokesman Tushar Kanti Das told reporters.
