Kuwait government resigns to avoid parliament grilling

Cairo/Kuwait City, March 31 – The Kuwait government resigned Thursday, the official news agency KUNA reported, after parliament filed an application to question three ministers. The cabinet had been expected to quit after the ministers, all relatives of the emir, were set to to be grilled by legislators over allegations of impropriety and administrative violations.

New Delhi, March 31 – With 200 million people, Uttar Pradesh continues to be the most populous state in the country while the Lakshadweep has the least numbers at 64,429 people, according to the latest census data released here Thursday. Sixteen percent of the total 1.20 billion Indians are living in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, which now has more people than Brazil.

Thane most populous district of India

New Delhi, March 31 – Thane on the outskirts of Mumbai is the most populous district of India with over 1.1 crore (11 million) people, according to the latest census figures, released Thursday. The district in north Maharashtra has a total population of 11.54 million and is closely followed by North 24 Parganas in West Bengal with 1.08 million people.

Denied admit cards, Mathura students go on rampage

Mathura, March 31 – Agitated over not getting admission cards for college examinations beginning Thursday, students went on a rampage in this Uttar Pradesh pilgrim town, damaging vehicles, public property and fighting pitched battles with police, an official said. Private B.Com part I students, who were not allowed to appear in the exams by the Babu Shivnath Agarwal College (BSAC), turned violent, torching government hoardings, damaging window panes of buses and private vehicles, and indulging in heavy brick batting in Krishnagar area of the town.
