BBC bought iPads, iPhones not approved for staff

London, March 31 – The BBC spent over 40,000 pounds last year on 104 flashy Apple iPads and iPhones even though they are not approved for use by its staff, a media report said. Citing figures obtained through a Freedom of Information request, The Sun reported that the organisation handed out about 10,000 pounds worth of iPhones a month.

Cabinet approves tax exemption for ICC WC 2011

New Delhi, Mar 31 : The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved tax exemption for the 2011 ICC World Cup. The cabinet today approved the proposal of Ministry of Finance for exempting ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 from income tax under section 10(39) of the Income Tax Act 1961 in respect of income which is arising in the India from the ICC World Cup, 2011 to the subsidiaries of the ICC, only where the contractual obligation to bear the income-tax liability is on these entities.
