Surge in Satanism sparks rise in demand for exorcists: Catholic Church

London, Mar 31 : The Roman Catholic Church has warned that a surge in Satanism fuelled by the Internet has led to a sharp rise in the demand for exorcists. Exorcism is the subject of a six-day conference being held this week at the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical University in Rome, which is under the Vatican’s authority.

Proceedings against suspended cop dropped

Panaji, March 31 – Goa Police have dropped departmental action against a police inspector who was suspended for dereliction of duty during a high terror alert in 2008. Home Minister Ravi Naik told the Goa legislative assembly Thursday that the proceedings against inspector Nelson Albuquerque have been dropped.

Protein from 600,000-year-old mammoth sheds light on ancient fossils

Washington, Mar 31 : The successful extraction of protein from the bones of a 600,000-year-old mammoth by researchers from the University of York and Manchester, has paved the way for the identification of ancient fossils. Using an ultra-high resolution mass spectrometer, bio-archaeologists were able to produce a near complete collagen sequence for the West Runton Elephant, a Steppe Mammoth skeleton which was discovered in cliffs in Norfolk in 1990.
