Quran recitation contest held in Dubai

Dubai, April 30 (IANS/WAM) Over 500 people took part in a Quran recitation contest in Dubai that was held to ‘scout for new talents’, officials said. The competition was for best recitation of the verses of the holy book, held as part of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award.

Madhya Pradesh minister’s GM foods remark criticised

Bhopal, April 30: Known for his controversial statements on several issues, Madhya Pradesh Agriculture Minister Ramkrishan Kusmaria was Saturday criticised for ‘trivialising’ opposition to introduction of genetically-modified (GM) crops in the state. ‘The minister made a mockery of Madhya Pradesh and trivialised a sensitive issue,’ NGO Ajai chief and environment activist Shehla Masood told IANS.
