Jammu, May 4: Around eighty one percent voters exercised their franchise during the sixth phase of the multi-phased panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
The polling was held in nine blocks of Jammu and Kashmir of which five blocks were in Jammu Division and four in Kashmir Valley.
It was smooth and peaceful polling as no major untoward incident has been reported from anywhere.
The first led of the 16-phase polls was held in eight blocks of Jammu and Kashmir on April 13.
The elections for the seventh phase will be held on May 8, eighth phase on May 12, ninth phase on May 16, tenth phase on May 21.
The last six phases will be held on May 25, May 29, June 2, June 6, June 11 and June 16.
The panchayat polls are being held after successful state assembly elections in 2008. The last panchayat elections were held in 2001. (ANI)
