Brits spend 12 hours a day gazing at electronic screens

London, May 26: A new survey has revealed that the Britons spend an average of 12 hours a day in front of an electronic screen.

According to the survey, on average they spend more time gazing at a computer, TV or mobile phone than they do sleeping.

Computers take up five hours, three hours watching TV, and they spend at least one hour looking at their phones.

Other gadgets such as iPads and ebook readers accounted for the rest of the total of 11 hours and 48 minutes of screen gazing.

This was compared to the average night’s sleep of seven hours.

In the poll taken, more than two-thirds regularly “multi-screen” by using their phone and laptop while watching TV, while a quarter check their phones within three minutes of waking up.

Another fifth admitted that obsessive screen gazing could break-up a couple’s relationship.

“These gadgets have become central to people’s lives, so it’s not surprising that so much time is spent staring at a screen,” the Daily Express quoted Nikki Sellers who carried out the survey as saying. (ANI)
