Shillong, May 27: A huge consignment of explosives meant to be smuggled to Myanmar through Nagaland was seized from a bus station here in Meghalaya, a custom official said Friday.
At least 374 pieces of gelatine sticks, 800 pieces of detonators, and 500 metres of fuse fire were recovered.
‘The explosives were meant to be smuggled to Myanmar through Nagaland,’ Deputy Commissioner Customs (Preventive) Apalak Das said.
Nagaland has about 270-km long border with Myanmar manned by the paramilitary Assam Rifles. The dense forest cover makes the border porous and vulnerable to trans-border movement.
