After a five-year high, mercury dips in Delhi

New Delhi, May 13: After breaking a five-year record Thursday, the maximum day temperature in Delhi Friday dipped slightly to 40 degrees Celsius. The met department has forecast a dust storm over the next 24 hours.

‘The maximum temperature Friday was a notch above average, at 40 degrees Celsius. It had gone up to 43.1 degrees Thursday, breaking a five-year record,’ an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

‘There is a dust storm expected over the next 24 hours. The skies will remain partly cloudy tomorrow (Saturday),’ the official added.

The minimum temperature Friday was 28.9 degrees Celsius, which was four notches above the average.

The minimum and maximum temperatures Saturday are expected to hover around 27 and 42 degrees, respectively, according to the IMD official.
