London, May 16: Coach Roberto Mancini wants to splash the cash on superstars with Champions League experience.
According to The Sun, Mancini has already spoken to his chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak about funds and warned the club must be wary of what happened to Tottenham this year as Harry Redknapp’s squad could not maintain a challenge on two fronts.
The Italian said: “We need players with Champions League experience next year. We have a good team because we have a young team with players like Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko.
He added: “We have players that perhaps after one year in the Premier League will get much better. Now we have to buy other players.”
He said: “I don’t think there will be major changes. But this year we should take Spurs as an example. They got to the Champions League quarter-finals and will finish fifth or sixth in the league. It’s tough if you don’t have a big squad and can change six players every game.” (ANI)
