Nawaz seeks to clip Pak Army, intelligence agencies’ wings

Lahore, May 13: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif has demanded that the budget of the country’s army and intelligence agencies be presented in the assembly.

Addressing a press conference after meeting the US Ambassador to Pakistan, Cameron Munter, Nawaz said that foreign policy making is not the business of agencies, adding that agencies must not make alliances and divide political parties.

The PML-N will not allow a government within government, Geo News quoted Nawaz, as saying.

Talking about the United States’ unilateral military operation inside Pakistani territory on May 2, in which Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden was killed, Nawaz said that the raid was against the sovereignty and integrity of Pakistan.

He demanded that an independent commission be constituted at the earliest, and those responsible for Abbottabad incident be unmasked.

The former prime minister said that Pakistan has rendered great sacrifices in the war on terror, regretting that the country is being held in the dock despite all those sacrifices.

Nawaz also demanded that the Pakistan government stop obeying the US and other institutions, and come forward to serve the nation. (ANI)
