New York, May 11: Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has revealed that she might go to Broadway once ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ wraps its 25th and final season on May 25.
“I have a stack of plays in my bag right now that I am reading,” The New York Daily quoted Winfrey as telling The Chicago Tribune.
“And just this past weekend, I was in New York meeting with producers. We were just talking about what would be the best route to take. But yes, this is really going to happen … Life is too short. I think that an ensemble production is the way I should go,” she added.
Winfrey, who produced the Tony-winning musical version of the 1985 film she starred in “The Color Purple,” almost made her debut on the Great White Way in 2010 when theater director Kenny Leon asked her to star in his revival of “Fences.”
Unfortunately, the demands of her daytime show wouldn’t allow it.
But come May 25, her calendar will open up quite a bit.
Winfrey said that she is currently in talks with a number of Broadway producers and directors, but hasn’t made up her mind just yet regarding which project she’ll choose. (ANI)
