Dara Singh case: Jaipur court rejects bail of four cops

Jaipur, June 17: A special court in Jaipur on Friday rejected the bail plea of four policemen named as accused in the Dara Singh fake encounter case.

The investigating agency had named 16 police officials in this case. These include Additional Director General of Police A.K. Jain, Inspector General A. Ponnuchami, Additional Superintendent of Police Arsad Ali, Police Inspectors Nisar Khan and Naresh Sharma, Assistant Sub-Inspector Surendra Singh, Sub-Inspector Satyanarayan Godara and seven other policemen.

Dara Singh was killed in a police encounter on the outskirts of Jaipur on October 23, 2006.

Later, his family alleged that the encounter was staged. On their plea, the Supreme Court handed over the case to the CBI in April 2010.

The CBI has already arrested four police officials in connection with the case so far. (ANI)
