London, June 18: Sir Paul McCartney has expressed his disappointment after his ‘Beatles’ band mate Ringo Starr was not included in The Queen’s Birthday Honours List this year.
He said that Starr, whose real name is Richard Starkey, should have been knighted because “it was about time” his friend received the honour.
McCartney had expressed his dissatisfaction in an interview on the radio when he was asked why Starr had missed out on the knighthood again.
“Yeah, well, don’t look at me. The last time I went by she (the Queen) was out,” the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.
“Otherwise I would have popped in and said ‘Look, love, Sir Richard Starkey’. Because I do think it’s about time, but she probably was a bit busy with Sir Brucie (Forsyth),”he added.
McCartney had received his knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II in 1997. (ANI)
