Man U must splash money on recruting key players: Rooney

London, June 1: England striker Wayne Rooney expects his club Manchester United to make major signings this summer in a bid to reclaim the Champions League crown.

It maybe recalled that Rooney famously questioned United’s ambition and the quality of last summer’s signings before agreeing his new contract in October – and has again stressed his desire to see the club splash the cash to strengthen the side.

“Barcelona are incredible and sometimes you’ve just got to hold your hands up,” the Daily Express quoted Rooney, as saying.There is ground to make up, not just for us but for the rest of the teams. That’s the level we want to be at and we need to up our level to be there. I’m sure the manager knows that and he’ll be looking at what he needs and what he is going to do to get us there,” he added.
