New Delhi, June 21: Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has convened an all-party meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss the Women’s Reservation Bill.
In a letter to political parties, she has also asked them to take steps for early passage of the Bill in the Lok Sabha.
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Affairs Ministers Pawan Kumar Bansal said the government’s seriousness on the issue showed when it got it into the Rajya Sabha.
“It was only because of the seriousness of the government that the government got into the Rajya Sabha. It is our concern, it is our endeavor also to take everybody on board, all the parties on board to see that the bill is passed,” he added.
The bill grants 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. (ANI)
