Mobile phones making people forget their manners!

Melbourne, June 14: A new survey has revealed that Australians’ love for mobile phones is turning the country into a rude nation.

The study warned more people are forgetting their manners and using their mobiles inappropriately, reports the Herald Sun.

While four out of five Australians believe they are getting ruder, less than half are prepared to rein in others’ bad behaviour, according to the mobile phone etiquette survey of 1023 Australians conducted online for Telstra.

But the rise of smartphones had encouraged a new wave of rudeness, said Telstra consumer director Rebekah O’Flaherty.

She said more than a third of the handsets sold by the telco were smartphones and Facebook use on mobiles had tripled in the past year.

The main mobile phone gripes were holding inappropriate conversations in public and using a phone while driving.

This was followed by loud and annoying ringtones, listening to loud music and using a phone while crossing the road.

Other offences included showing off apps at dinner and forcing people to look at personal pictures. (ANI)
