London, July 6(ANI): Arsenal is now looking to sign Inter Milan midfielder Thiago Motta after the Italians beat them in the race for Velez Sarsfield midfielder Ricardo Alvarez.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had made Alvarez his top pick to replace Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas.
However, Inter Milan hijacked the deal by agreeing a five-year contract with Velez Sarsfield.
Arsenal believes that Alvarez’s arrival at Inter Milan will open the way for them to land Motta.
Motta has a 9.25 million pounds release clause in the contract he signed after arriving from Genoa in 2009.
The 28-year-old was a key member of the Inter Milan team, which won the 2010 Champions League. (ANI)
