Nine cops suspended after Maoists flee from lock-up

Raipur, July 13: Nine policemen were suspended Wednesday in Chhattisgarh after two Maoists escaped from a police station lockup, just hours after they were caught in a combing operation, police said.

The two rebels, lodged at Narayanpur Police Station, were scheduled to be produced in a local court Wednesday.

‘It’s a clear case of negligence by policemen, I have suspended nine of them posted at Narayanpur police station,’ Superintendent of Police Mayank Srivastava told IANS over phone.
