New Delhi, July 13: The national capital was Wednesday placed on high alert and vigil was stepped up at all vulnerable areas after three blasts rocked Mumbai, killing at least seven people and injuring over two dozen, police said Wednesday.
‘We have placed the city on high alert and all anti-terror measures have been taken up. Security has been beefed up in crowded places and extra personnel have been deployed,’ said a senior police officer.
Security has been heightened in market areas of Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, Greater Kailash, Karol Bagh, Mehrauli and Sarojini Nagar.
Police have advised people to exercise a high degree of caution, to monitor the surroundings and to minimise presence in market areas.
‘Pickets are everywhere and extensive checking is being carried out. All policemen have been asked to remain alert and increase searches,’ he added.
