New Delhi, July 12: Gurudas Kamat, who is reportedly upset with the new portfolio of Minister of State for Drinking Water and Sanitation, has written a letter to United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi asking her to relieve him of his duties.
According to reports, Kamat has written in his letter to Sonia Gandhi that he wants to work for the party in Maharashtra.
According to television reports, Kamat, who was not present during the swearing in ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan earlier in the day, has been asked following his defiance.
The Congress had reportedly warned Kamat he may lose his ministerial post if he does not take oath as Minister of State with Independent charge today. He was earlier the Minister of State for Home Affairs.
The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, earlier in the day dropped seven ministers and inducted eight new faces in his Cabinet. (ANI)
