‘I’ve never worked harder to reach three figures’, says Pietersen

London, July 23(ANI): England batsman Kevin Pietersen’s third double century put his team in command of the Lord’s Test against India, but he admitted that he had never worked harder to reach three figures.

Pietersen’s superb 202 not out led England to 474 for eight on the second day on Friday.

The 31-year-old, who had not scored a century in England for almost three years before he posted his fifth Lord’s ton, and his 18th in Tests, felt conditions made him fight more than he ever has before.

“That was fantastic and something to be really proud of. It was quite nice from 150 to 200, but to get there was a mission,” the Sun quoted Pietersen, as saying.

“It’s right up there with my best. I’ve never worked harder to reach three figures in those swinging conditions – it was real graft. There were some pretty complimentary things said to me in the dressing room afterwards,” he added. (ANI)
