Woods fired longtime caddie for working with rival golfer

New York, July 22(ANI): American golfer Tiger Woods reportedly fired longtime caddie Steve Williams for working with Australian golfer Adam Scott.

According to Fox Sports, Woods was unhappy after Williams filled in as a caddie for Scott while Woods continued to recover from injuries.

Williams had reportedly flown to the US in June with the intent of caddying for Woods at the US Open.

However, after the 14-time major winner was sidelined due to a knee injury, Williams opted to step in to help out Scott, who had just parted ways with his own caddie.

The decision did not sit well with Woods, with the final straw coming when Williams showed up with Scott at the AT and T National, three weeks ago, the report said.

The PGA Tour is hosted by Woods and benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation.

Williams, who had been working with Woods since March 1999, was informed of his sacking earlier this month.

Williams is believed to have earned over three million pounds through his estimated five percent share of Woods’ earnings on the course.

Woods has not named a replacement for Williams yet, but Williams has said he will work for Scott. (ANI)
