Islamabad, Sept 19(ANI): At least five people were killed in a Taliban attack on a security checkpost in Akakhel area in Bara sub-division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Two vehicles were also destroyed in the attack, the Daily Times reports. he security forces killed ten terrorists in counter-operation and cordoned off the area to launch a search for suspected terrorists.

“A large number of weapons from the militants were also confiscated,” an official claimed.

The Akakhel area has become a battleground between security forces, supported by a peace lashkar, and terrorists.

Akakhel is the first tribe in Bara sub-division where the local people have formed a peace lashkar against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other terror outfits.

The peace lashkar volunteers have in principle decided not to keep the identity of their leader a secret for security purposes. (ANI)
