Tehran, Sep 20: Six Iranians working for the Farsi-language service of the BBC were held in Iran on charges of spying for Britain, a media report said Tuesday.
The accused, including a woman, were held for distributing photos, videos and information to portray a negative image of the country, Xinhua said quoting the official IRINN TV.
The intelligence ministry has confirmed the arrest but did not reveal the number of people held or their identities, according to another state-run channel IRIB TV.
The BBC, however, denied that the arrested people were its employees.
