Gujarat Congress leader Vaghela breaks his fast

Ahmedabad, Sep 20: Veteran Congress leader Shankarsinh Vaghela broke his three-day fast on Tuesday.

State Congress leaders had sat on a fast from Saturday to counter Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s programme to promote “non-violence” and amity through his fast held during the same period.

Earlier, Vaghela led a huge silent rally against the Modi Government. Vaghela’s supporters displayed posters with messages like ‘Nathu-Modi bhai bhai” (Gandhi”s killer Nathuram Godse and Modi are brothers).

Addressing the gathering, Vaghela, said: “This government is trying to kill Gandhian ideology. A government which does not follow the principles of Gandhiji should not be allowed to rule the state.”

He asked religious leaders to take the lead in agitation against relaxation of prohibition laws. “Don”t be ‘sarkari sadhus”. Take the lead of this agitation and we will follow you,” he said. (ANI)
