Amid rains, voters queue up for Bengal by-polls

Kolkata, Sep 25: Amid heavy rains, people Sunday lined up to cast votes in by-polls to the Bhowanipore assembly constituency where West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is seeking her maiden entry into the state legislature.

By-polls are also being held for the Basirhat (Uttar) assembly seat in North 24 Parganas district.

‘The polling started at 7 a.m. Till 9 a.m., 16 percent voting was recorded in Basirhat and seven to eight percent in Bhawanipore constituency,’ said an election official.
