Baramulla, Oct 7: The Jammu and Kashmir Government’s Department has organised a ‘Machine Mela’ (fair) in Baramulla District to inform farmers about the latest technologies.
This is the first time that the department has organised such a fair in the Kashmir Valley.
“We have invited all the principle or registered dealers related to machinery. We have facilitated the farmers with door services so that those farmers who need equipment like irrigation pumps, full sprayer pumps, tillers or tractors, or whatever other machinery is used in the agricultural sector, can avail them here,” said Hilal Ahmed, Chief Agricultural Officer, Baramulla district.
Farmers thronged the fair to inquire about the latest technologies to enhance the quality of their agricultural output.
“This mela by the agricultural department has made things very easy for us. We are able to purchase motors of our choice for irrigation and tilling. Initially we will have to pay the full price for the machines, but later, we will get a subsidy of 50 percent from the department,” said Mohammad Maqbool, a local farmer.
Well known companies like Honda, Birla and Tarmac were participated in the fair.
Farmers said the authorities should organise more such fairs in the near future. (ANI)
