London, Oct 23: David Cameron recently picked on French President, Nicolas Sarkozy’s height at an annual newspaper conference.
The 6 feet Prime Minister told a room full of journalists he had to kneel at a lectern set up for the 5ft 5in French president so that he could reach the microphone.
Just minutes before learning of the capture of Libyan dictator Muammar Gadaffi, Cameron recalled how he and Mr Sarkozy were greeted as heroes in the liberated city of Benghazi.
Cameron said that both of them had been called to address the crowd constituting 5,000 people, who were chanting their names.
“I realised that the microphone and the lectern had been set up for Nicolas Sarkozy and not for me,” the Daily Express quoted Cameron as saying.
“It was the only time in my life I addressed a crowd of 5,000 cheering fans on my knees, so I could reach into the microphone.”
Sarkozy is extremely sensitive about his height and has previously made a complaint about the Prime Minister’s wisecracks. (ANI)
