Malay man pays for lover’s divorce to marry her

Kuala Lumpur, Oct 22: A Malaysian man paid 20,000 Malaysian Ringgit to the Syariah court to pay for the divorce of the woman he loves so that he could marry her.

According to Harian Metro, the man took advantage of the tebus talak (divorce by redemption) system where one can “buy” people’s wives.

The man from Johor paid the huge sum to Normah’s husband through the system, as he did not agree to divorce her by consent.

Normah, 31, said that her ex-schoolmate was determined to pay the money because they wanted to be together, and the husband did not give his consent for a divorce.So I had to go to court which allowed the tebus talak divorce,” the Star Online quoted her as telling the Malay Daily. (ANI)
