New Delhi, Dec 20: Amidst uproar from the opposition parties, the Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram, during Question Hour in Parliament said that there is adequate strategic coordination among various government agencies when it came to the question of security coordination at different levels.
“As far as security coordination is concerned, at one level by the multi agencies concerned, at the political level by the National Security Council and the Cabinet Commission Security (CCS), matters that are dealt with, at the level of the Cabinet Committee and Security and matters that are dealt with the level of the National Security Council are in my view matter relating with strategy and there is adequate strategic coordination among the various organs of the government,” said Chidambaram.
He assured the House that the task related to the country’s security has been assigned to the executive branch of the National Security Council (NSC) that is vigilant about the infiltration.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the main opposition party in Parliament on Tuesday continued boycotting Union Home Minister P Chidambaram when he stood up to give an answer during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha.
BJP demanded Chidambaram’s resignation, alleging that he had misused his office to help a local businessman he once represented as a lawyer.
It also decided to submit a privilege notice against Chidambaram for speaking on the issue outside Parliament.
The Congress Party has defended Chidambaram from the opposition attacks, by saying the he had never met Gupta when he was his lawyer. (ANI)
