New Delhi, Jan 18: A 38-year-old security guard shot and injured three robbers who tried to take away his gun, police said Wednesday. All three have been arrested.
Kamlesh Kumar, employed at a Delhi Jal Board office in west Delhi, was on his way to his office on a cycle Tuesday night when he was attacked by the three, riding a motorcycle, in Narela area.
“They snatched his mobile phone and purse having Rs.1,700 and two debit cards and fled. But, after a few minutes, they returned again to snatch the double-barrel gun that Kumar had slung over his shoulder,” said a senior police officer.
Resisting the bid, Kumar fired twice at the robbers. One bullet hit the leg of one of the robbers, while the other two also received injuries after their bike skidded. The three however managed to flee the spot.
Meanwhile, Kumar informed police and was taken to the Raja Harish Chand Hospital in Narela.
The accused were also being treated in the same hospital and Kumar recognized them. After treatment the accused, one aged 18 and two aged 17, were arrested and a case filed against them.
