Iran says new uranium enrichment site ‘safe’ from enemies

Tehran, Jan 9: The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) has said that the nation’s second uranium enrichment site is safe from any kind of threat from enemies.

Fereidoon Abbasi said that, given the ill-intent of enemies, ‘the Fordo enrichment facility is located under ground as the Natanz nuclear site is.’

“Enemies have tried to damage our nuclear facilities through different plots, including industrial disturbance and viruses and particular signals, however, our scientists have resisted all their plots,” Xinhua quoted Abbasi, as saying.

“It would be so costly for the enemies to damage these facilities,” he added.

According to the report, Abbasi said the subterranean Fordo enrichment facilities would start operating in the near future.

“The Fordo facilities will be launched soon and will be able to produce 20 percent, 3.5 percent and four percent enriched uranium,” he added.

Iranian media reports recently claimed that the nation has started uranium enrichment at the Fordo uranium facilities near Qom city amid the heightened threats of its enemies. (ANI)
