City players allege getting ‘racially’ abused by Porto fans

London, Feb 17(ANI): Some Manchester City players have alleged getting racially abused by a section of fans at Estadio do Drago during their Europa League 2-1 win at Porto.

City is now planning to lodge a complain with the Union of European Football Association (UEFA)

The club has revealed that striker Mario Balotelli had complained to officials about chants from the stands.

In the 78th minute, when City substituted Balotelli, the jeering reached a climax

BBC Radio 5 live reported that, at half-time, Manchester City media officers had informed them that they suspected that midfielder Yaya Toure and Balotelli had been the subject of racial abuse from certain home sections of the crowd.

City manager Roberto Mancini has however said that he didn’t hear any chants from the crowd since he was concentrating on the game.

“I didn’t hear the noise, because I was concentrating on the game,” he said. (ANI)
