Five killed, 7 injured in U.S. drone strike in Pak’s North Waziristan province

Islamabad, Feb 16: At least five people were reportedly killed and seven others injured today in a U.S. drone strike in Pakistan’s North Waziristan province.

“Two missiles were fired by a US drone on a compound used by militants in Spalga town near Miranshah and five militants have been killed,” the Dawn quoted a security official, as saying.

According to a Xinhua report, the strike occurred at a house suspected of being a militant’s hideout in Miranshah, a main town of North Waziristan.

The latest attack comes after US missiles killed Badar Mansoor, the most senior Pakistani Al Qaeda leader and one of the US’ key targets.

Located on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, North Waziristan is believed to be a haven of militants who often launch attacks on the U.S.-led NATO troops in Afghanistan across the border. (ANI)
