London, Feb 10(ANI): England football ace Gary Lineker has described the England manager’s job as the worse thing that could happen to him.
He told The Sun that he would run a mile from doing it himself. He was quoted as saying: “No, no – I couldn’t think of anything worse.”
Lineker said he was never interested in being a manager, and added that being England’s manager was a thankless job.
“I never saw myself as the type to be a manager and I was never really interested in that side of it. It is such a big job to do. Unless you do unbelievably well you just get caned. It’s a thankless task,” he said.
But he backed Tottenham Spurs manager Harry Redknapp for the England job and felt that Redknapp could manage both the Spurs and England till May.
Lineker also said the new manager should be English just like the players.
“As you ask, I think new man should be English,” he tweeted.
“Players have to be, so should the boss. HR the man if he wants it. He can do both jobs (Spurs and England) til May,” he said. (ANI)
