Maharashtra CM denies foul play in civic body poll ticket distribution

Mumbai, Feb 1: Denying all allegations of irregularities in ticket distribution for the Mumbai Municipal Corporation polls, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has stressed that the civic body polls over very important for the state and the ruling Congress party.

Talking to reporters here on Tuesday after releasing party’s manifesto, Chavan said: “The Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections are very important because we must change the way the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has been functioning for the past 17 years.”

“Because any outsider who migrates to Mumbai, then it represents the face of the whole state, it is a metropolitan city and millions of people reside here. So these civic elections in Mumbai, Nagpur and other areas are very important for the party,” he added.

The Mumbai civic body polls will be held on February 6. (ANI)
