Veerappa Moily condoles demise of V.S. Acharya

New Delhi/Bangalore, Feb 14: Union Minster for Corporate Affairs Dr. M. Veerappa Moily has expressed shock and grief on the sad demise of Karnataka Higher Education Minister Dr. V.S. Acharya.

In a message sent to the bereaved family, Dr. Moily has said that he has lost a great friend and a well-wisher in his sudden death. Dr. Moily recalled he was sharing a platform with him at Mangalore in Karnataka Exports Meet yesterday itself.

He said Dr. V.S Acharya was an ideal President of Udupi Municipality and always maintained a public life with highest integrity.

“He has been a very informed Minister. He possessed exemplary public probity,” said Dr. Moily, and added that Karnataka has lost a great son in the death of Dr. Acharya.

Dr. V.S. Acharya died of a heart attack during a function earlier in the day.

Dr. Acharya had served as the Home Minister of Karnataka. A member of the Legislative Council, he also held the portfolios of Planning and Statistics, Information Technology and Biotechnology.

He is survived by wife, four sons and a daughter. (ANI)
