Britney Spears in talks with Cowell to join US ‘X Factor’ says Louis Walsh

London, March 2: Simon Cowell has approached Britney Spears in a bid to sign her as a judge for ‘X Factor’ USA, claims Louis Walsh.

It has been reported last week that pop star is keen to join the judging panel on the show.

Now, Irish music manager and judge on the UK ‘X Factor,’ Walsh, has revealed that Cowell is “talking” with Spears to sign her on for the show, the Daily Mail reported.

“I was out with Simon Cowell during the week, he’s in London. You know like you do and I know he is talking to Britney. He’s definitely talking to Britney to do his American show. Absolutely true,” the music mogul said during an interview on Craig Doyle Live.

TV executives at Fox have previously declined to comment on the matter, but insiders say the 30-year-old songstress is keen to join the hit show.

There are two vacant spaces to fill alongside Cowell and LA Reid after Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were fired.

Sources have told Us Weekly and Sunday World Spears has her eye on the job.

One insider close to newly engaged Britney told Sunday World: “The timing is perfect. Brit would love to connect with fans on a weekly basis and loves working on TV after several guest appearances on the sitcom ‘How I Met Your Mother’.”

While an appearance by Britney is looking more and more likely, Janet Jackson has declined a potential offer to sit beside Simon and LA Reed on the panel.

The 45-year-old told Insider.com that she is “very flattered that ‘X Factor’ let me know that I was being considered for next season, but it just wouldn’t be possible.”

She said that the move would be ‘unrealistic’ as she is already committed to her ‘Number Ones Up Close and Personal Tour’.

A representative for the singer also added: “There have been absolutely no meetings between Janet and anyone with regard to X Factor.”

Fox has still not confirmed who is to replace Nicole and Paula. (ANI)
