Jaguar and Land Rover drive sales higher at Tata Motors

London, Apr 17: Strong demand for luxury cars Jaguar and Land Rover has helped to drive sales higher at the Tata Motors Group, which sold 139,655 vehicles in March 2012, up 26 per cent over March 2011.

Jaguar Land Rover sold 36,471 vehicles in March, higher by 51 per cent over the same month a year ago.

Buyers in China and the US bought the new Range Rover Evoque and the Land Rover Freelander 2 last month while Jaguar also did well, The Daily Express reports.

Jaguar sales rose 42 per cent to 5,343 while Land Rover sales lifted 53 per cent to 31,128.

Jaguar Land Rover recently unveiled plans to create 1,000 jobs at its Halewood plant on Merseyside on top of about 2,500 there and at Solihull near Birmingham.

Tata Motors has operations in the UK, South Korea, Thailand, Spain and South Africa, including Jaguar Land Rover. (ANI)
