Pyongyang, April 21: North Korea has accused South Korean President Lee Myung-bak of drumming up war hysteria, reports said Saturday.
Lee Thursday toured a research institute, where he watched videos of the launch of South Korean-developed missiles, bragged about his country’s missile capacity and called for punishment and a precision strike against North Korea, reported Xinhua citing the North Korea’s KCNA news agency.
“If the south Korean warmongers make even a rustling sound, the armed forces of North Korea will eradicate the rats and take hold of the land of the southern part of Korea,” said a spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea.
An official, earlier in the day, said North Korea will continue satellite launches for peaceful purposes.
The Unha-3 rocket — which North Korea said would put a satellite into orbit, but Western countries described as a cover for a missile technology test — was launched last Friday to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of late founding leader Kim Il-sung.
