New Delhi, May 21(ANI): Corporate Affairs Minister, Veerappa Moily, on Monday said that no sector, including civil aviation would be exempted from the laws formulated by the Competition Commission of India (CCI).
Speaking to mediapersons here, Moily said, “Nobody will be an exception, particularly on enforcement of competition law. I think one has to conform to the rules, whether it is civil aviation or any sector”.
Responding to queries on the financial irregularities of the cash-strapped Kingfisher Airlines, the Minister declined to give any “off hand” comment.
“I can’t give you off hand comments on these financial matters,” he said.
The government had, recently initiated legal action against the private carrier towards dishonouring of the cheques submitted by the loss-making airline.
Reacting on the cement cartelisation by CCI, he said he did not have much to say as the matter is subjudice.
” I have no comments to make, it is subjudice because the Competitive Commission is examining it and I don’t think at this point of time, I need to comment on it,” Moily said.
Recently, the CCI had decided to intervene in the case regarding the alleged cartelisation by cement and tyre companies. (ANI)
